In recognition of Indigenous Veterans' contributions to military service, Canada observes National Indigenous Veterans Day annually on November 8. Official recognition of this day started in Winnipeg in 1994.

First Nations, M茅tis and Inuit Peoples have a long history of military service in Canada. We honor the many sacrifices made and recognize the multitude of challenges faced by Indigenous Peoples participation in Canada鈥檚 military. On November 11, Remembrance Day, we recognize the military service of all Canadians who have contributed to ensuring peace and freedom nationally and internationally.
