Course Details
Students will examine the historical and contemporary conflict that various cultural and ethnic groups have experienced with the criminal law and the criminal justice system in Canada. Students examine the multicultural fabric of Canadian society and its implications for social and criminal justice. Some of the critical areas related to cultural and ethnic groups and the criminal justice system are explored. Students will be exposed to a myriad of materials and ideas and be challenged to evaluate and critique the complex issues which surround crime and criminal justice in a multicultural society. The compounding effects of each branch of the criminal justice system on different cultures will also be explored and discussed.
