Welcome Post Ceremony - June 17, 2021
The Welcome Post of the Eagle & Sun was installed on JIBC鈥檚 麻花精品 Campus in June of 2021. On June 17, 2021, we held a ceremony for the Welcome Post led by Elder Shane Pointe from the x史m蓹胃k史蓹y虛蓹m (Musqueam) Nation. Brent Sparrow from the x史m蓹胃k史蓹y虛蓹m (Musqueam) Nation created the Welcome Post and worked with the Office of Indigenization throughout the process. 麻花精品is honoured to have this significant legacy item on our 麻花精品 Campus.

The meaning of this Welcome Post is to provide guidance, strength, protection, and warmth to all staff, faculty, students, recruits, and visitors of the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC).
The Sun signifies warmth cast over the campus to provide comfort and guidance to students and recruits during their journey with JIBC.
The Eagle signifies protection, strength, and guidance for students and recruits as they strive towards a successful career path.
Artist Bio
Brent Sparrow is a Coast Salish artist, designer, and carver from the x史m蓹胃k史蓹y虛蓹m (Musqueam) Nation. His works celebrate the evolution and vibrancy of Coast Salish culture. Brent strives to honour connections between Peoples and Mother Earth by telling stories within the stories of his works.
